Naked Poetry

É o título do livro, que me apresentou a vários autores americanos recentes aos quais não teríamos acesso. O subtítulo é "recent american poetry in open forms".Como diz Denise Levertov, em um excelente ensaio sobre a forma orgânica da poesia, "forma nada mais é do que a revelação do conteúdo". Uma beleza! Escolhi o poema de Galway Kinnell (popularíssimo, estou errado?...rs) por que fala de amor, e eu estou meio abalado com a ida de Paco para o canil, já que vou para São Paulo fazer um curso de encadernação. Ridículo, dois marmanjos com os olhos cheios d'água no elevador...Mas o Paquinho,...ai, ai...

Poems of Night

I touch your face
I move my hand over
Slopes, falls, lumps of sight,
lashes barely able to be touched,
lips that give way so easily
It´s a shock to feel underneath
The hard grin of the bones.

Muffled a little, barely cloaked,
zygoma, maxillary, turbinate.

I put my hand
on the side of your face,
you lean your head a little
into my hand - and so,
I know you're a dormouse
Taken up in winter sleep,
a lonely, stunned weight
shut in the natural mystery.

A cheekbone,
a curved piece of brow,
a pale eyelid
Float in the dark,
And now I make out
An eye, dark,
Wormed with farr-off, unaccountable lights.

Hardly touching, I hold
What I can only think of
As some deepest of memories in my arms,
not mine, but as if the life in me
Were slowly remembering what it is.

You lie now in your physicalness,
This beautiful degree of reality.

And now the day, raft that breaks up, comes on.

I think of few bone
Floating on a river at night,
The starlight blowing in place on the water,
The river leaning like a wave towards the emptiness.
